Empowering Africa’s Youth to Compete and Win

The Challenge

Africa is home to the world’s youngest population energetic, creative, and full of potential. Yet, youth unemployment and income poverty remain two of the continent’s most pressing challenges. The UNDP Multi-dimensional Poverty Index Report (2024) indicates that approximately 84 percent of the world’s multi-dimensionally poor people live in Sub-saharan Africa and Asia. This report estimated that 533 million young Africans live in extreme poverty. According to the World Bank (2024), this crisis stems mainly from limited access to quality, skills-based education the kind that aligns with the demands of the modern labor market and digital economy.


Our Response

Responding to this call, Sensal Systems has developed a fully digitized academy for youth skilling (AYS) which will equip youth with skills they need to accelerate their chances of securing employment by bridging the gap between “academic qualifications” and strengthening “competencies which are demanded by the global labor market”. Specifically, through this academy, young people will access world class training and mentoring which will enable them to strengthen the following competencies.

AYS delivers foundational and advanced digital competencies essential for today’s global workforce, including:

Cognitive skills (including critical thinking, problem solving, creativity)

Collaboration skill

Interpersonal and communication skills (and tools) – including social media management ethics

Networking

Personal and adaptive skills (flexibility, lifelong learning, resilience, initiative, self-motivation & management, etc)

Emotional intelligence

Digital skills (including digital literacy, adaptability and orientation on frequently used digital tools and systems)

Specialized technical training and certification in key areas i.e., machine learning
